Not Technically a Beer or a Wine…. So What Are They?
The amazing drinks created by the brewmasters at FruitCraft: Fermentery + Distillery aren’t technically beers. They also aren’t technically wines. Beer, by definition, is brewed with fermented cereal grains. Real wine is made from fermented grape juice. For the sake of simplicity, FruitCraft calls their fermented fruit drinks wines, but in reality, they would more accurately be called liqueurs or cordials. Whatever you call them, these drinks are delectable! As if offering incredibly fermented fruit drinks weren’t enough, FruitCraft offers distilled versions of some of these liqueurs, which results in fruit liquor or spirits. You can order a range of impressive cocktails or even try these spirits and cordials straight or on the rocks.

Inspired by the Local Craft Beer Scene
FruitCraft is employee owned, and everyone who works at FruitCraft has a say in how the business operates. Brian and Alan Haghighi started The California Fruit Wine Company back in 2009. Since then, the group of employees has expanded, as have the offerings and creative concoctions coming from the business. In June of 2017, FruitCraft: Fermentery + Distillery officially re-opened for business. Ever since, they’ve been making a strong name for themselves on the local brewing scene. This Hillcrest business has partnered with Cal Spirits in San Marcos, which makes their double-distilled eau de vies, or fruit brandies.
