A Dining Experience Worth the Drive

On a Friday morning, we headed south to visit a restaurant we had been recommended many times. Located in Chula Vista, we had never visited the Savoie Italian Eatery before. As we walked in, we were floored by the incredible decor and furnishings. Modern, airy and bright, the setting already had us in a good mood. The bar area almost feels like a patio, with open doors, windows and a high-ceiling.

Cheese Board Charcuterie Appetizer

To start our incredible dining experience, we started with a first course charcuterie board. Featuring a variety of cheese, meats, fruits and jams, this platter was a light, sophisticated way to begin our meal. Savory meats like chorizo salami and mortadella corpola, were complemented by mature cheeses, like manchego, and seasonal fruits.

Short Rib Ragu w/ Pappardelle

This popular pasta dish is tossed with a slow-cooked short rib, cooked in a demi cabaret sauce along with mushrooms, carrots and topped with shaved parmesan. The Pappardelle pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, making for an awesome contrast with the super tender short rib. The short rib is also featured on flatbread, in a lasagna dish, and put in sliders, which are served during Happy Hour.

One of Our Favorite Happy Hour Specials in Chula Vista

From 4 PM – 7:30 PM everyday, Savoie has one of the best happy hour menus in town. With $4 beers, $5 glasses of wine and a variety of $7 cocktails, you can start your evening of the right way. There are also a series of bites you can order for discounted prices during happy hour as well. For just $9 you can get a pepperoni pizza flatbread, or Rockefeller Oysters.

Just Desserts

Finally, no meal at Savoie is complete without a decadent dessert! Homemade, sweet crepes topped with vanilla bean ice cream is one option, with nutella, strawberries and mint. With a lightly whipped cream on top, this treat has it all.

Needless to say, we’ll be back to Savoie Italian Eatery as soon as we can.
