San Diego remains one of the richest regions in the nation when it comes to craft brewing. With more than 100 breweries and several nationally renowned brewers calling San Diego County home, it’s no wonder that so many people consider San Diego a must-visit craft beer destination. Certain events in the area help cement that reputation. The upcoming San Diego Brew Festival is one of them.

There will be more than 70 confirmed breweries attending, including local favorites and several powerhouse brewers from out of state, like Founder’s Brewing from Michigan. Local craft beer lovers will have a chance to see what’s new from their favorite brewers and sample beers they’ve always wanted to try.

Food Trucks and Beer Samples Galore!

2018 will be the 8th annual San Diego Brew Fest. General admission tickets cost $45 and will get you in from 1 p.m. until it closes at 4 p.m. For those willing to pay a little more money, $55 VIP tickets include entry an hour earlier, at noon. Ticket holders receive unlimited samples of craft beers for the duration of the event and have the option of buying tasty food from an assortment of local food trucks. Tickets, which can be purchased here, do not include meals or snacks from the food trucks.

You’ll have several great options for a snack to soak up some of that beer and keep you in the sampling game. There are currently at least 10 food trucks confirmed, including Mastiff Sausage Company, Criscito Pizza, Cousins Maine Lobster and Doggos Gus. Whether you want Greek food or bacon-wrapped hotdogs, you will definitely find something that appeals to you in the food truck alley.

With more than 70 breweries scheduled, you’ll have your choice of sampling around 150 different beers. Thankfully, you can bring a designated driver, whose ticket will only cost $20 at the door (no pre-sales). Anyone with a designated driver ticket caught drinking will be escorted out of the event.

If the incredible beers and assortment of food trucks wasn’t enough to pique your interest, you should know that the San Diego Brew Fest is a non-profit event. Any proceeds from the event will benefit Noah’s B-ark, a dog rescue that focuses on getting dogs out of shelters and into permanent, loving homes. The funds raised this year will help cover the costs associated with feeding, sheltering and providing veterinary care for these rescued pets.
