Amplified Ale Works has been brewing up amazing beer in Pacific Beach since 2012. Located on the corner of Pacific Beach and Mission Boulevard, Amplified has been steadily building up loyal fans and regulars. They’ve come up with some really amazing, and diverse beer. From their dry and delicious Irish Lullabies Stout, to their Black Hole Saison, to their super delicious Juice Springsteen Oat Pale Ale, Amplified may just become your next favorite brewery!

Of course, beer isn’t the only thing they have to offer! You can enjoy a variety of incredible bar foods at the PB location. There are appetizers like the doner fries, topped with veggies and your choice of protein, as well as garlic aioli, chili and avocado dressing. If that’s too adventurous, there are standard, house-cut fries on the menu as well.

Your vegetarian beer friends can order a chickpea veggie burger or parmesan zucchini, while you enjoy grilled skewers featuring pomegranate sirloin, marinated chicken or garlic pepper shrimp. If you’d prefer something lighter, they also have sandwiches and salads.

The Hardest Part Will Be Picking Your Beer

With more than 25 drafts available at the PB location, you won’t have any trouble finding a few that sound great. In addition to their in-house brews, they offer a few other California beers and some European imports as well. They are one of a few places locally where you can enjoy the Belgian Golden Strong Ale, Delirium Tremens, on tap instead of in a bottle.

Of course, the Amplified brews are what keep customers coming back for more! Their Whammy Bar Wheat won the gold medal for the American wheat category at the 2016 World Beer Cup. If you want something a little wild, consider the Karl Strauss Queen of Tarts, a specialty sour beer that’s a must try whenever it’s available.

Their Black Hole Saison is a Dark Saison that features 7.1 percent ABV. Their IPAs range in taste and strength. They’re currently offering two American IPAs, Blood Money and Execution, as well as a Double IPA, Dry School Hop Out, and a Hazy IPA, Glitter and Doom.

The Miramar Tasting Room

Tucked away behind the shadows of nearby behemoths like AleSmith and Ballast Point is a cozy spot where you can find Amplified and Pure Project tastings rooms side-by-side. While Pure Project has been killing it recently with a string of successful limited can releases, you’d miss out if you didn’t visit both spots. In fact, there has been more than one occasion when we’ve done just that on the same night!

Amplified’s Miramar location has a relaxed vibe and serves only beer, however there is frequently a food truck (or two) outside, especially on busy nights. You can order a flight of tasters to figure out what you like, then take advantage of their crowler machine to take some beer home. You’ll save a $1 when you get a 3-pack!

So go check out Amplified Ale Works! In nearly any other city this would be the best brewery in town. But even in a beer-loving town like San Diego, they manage to stand out!
