As the self-proclaimed local neighborhood bar for Mission Beach, Guava Beach Bar & Grill has a strong local following. With awesome New American food, including brunch on Sundays, it’s little surprise that this gem of a bar and restaurant remains intensely popular with the locals.

Happy Hour specials at Guava Beach Bar & Grill include 50 percent off of all drinks, beers, shots and house wines. If you’re hungry, you can take 20 percent off of any appetizers on their menu, including their jumbo coco shrimp, seared Cajun ahi tuna, nachos grande and their Guava Wings, which are baked, fried and served with your choice of sauces, including their powerfully hot Beautiful Death sauce.

Fusion Dishes in a Lounge Atmosphere

Tuesday: Tangier Bar

Located inside the Bahia Resort Hotel, Tangier Bar has an exotic tropical feel and an inviting lounge atmosphere. They offer clever fusion dishes, such as Philly Cheese Steak spring rolls and blacked ahi tuna sliders. You can also enjoy Asian wonton nachos, topped with braised short ribs and sriracha sour cream.

Happy Hour specials at Tangier Bar include $5 drafts of craft beers, $5.50 well drinks and $6 glasses of house wine. They also discount select appetizers by 20 percent, including their crab and artichoke dip, chicken wing lollipops, steamed littleneck clams, pork tacos, fish tacos and olive and hummus tapenade plate.

When in Paradise

Wednesday: Barefoot Bar & Grill
Location: 1404 Vacation Road

Located inside Paradise Point Hotel, Barefoot Bar & Grill features a beautiful seafront view of Mission Bay and has been the home of incredible food since 1962. They serve all three meals and boast a well-stocked bar capable of creating just about any drink you can dream up to go with your New American or seafood dish.

The Happy Hour specials at Barefoot Bar & Grill include $5 drinks, such as well drinks, draft beers or select wines. They also offer some of their appetizers or “bites” for $5 each, including their chicken wings, burrata-stuffed fried artichoke and brioche chili bowl. Happy Hour specials are only available in the bar and on the patio.

An Easy Go-To

If you want seafood or New American cuisine served in a laid-back sports bar atmosphere, Sandbar Sportsbar & Grill should be your go-to Mission Beach Happy Hour destination. Their menu includes all kinds of fresh fish, seafood and Tex-Mex inspired dishes, like their carne asada tater tots, Southwestern chimi rolls, fresh tacos and burritos, as well as burgers, salads and wraps.  

The Happy Hour specials at Sandbar Sportsbar & Grill offer a great early start to your weekend! They serve up 22-ounce drafts and goblets for just $6, while they also discount select cocktails by $2. Their food specials include $2 off of their appetizers and $4 for Sandbar or TKO fish tacos.

If you’re looking for incredible food and cheap drinks, head on over to Single Fin Surf Grill. They serve up grilled fish, beer battered fish and sriracha shrimp tacos, as well as burgers, fried rice, grilled cheese and a Bali burrito.

Happy Hour specials at the Single Fin Surf Grill include $4 draft beers and $3.50 well drinks, making this a great spot to kick off your weekend fun. You can also take 50 percent off of all sides, such as French toast sandwich bites, which include strawberries, banana and Nutella, a Bali style pancake, chicken fingers, sriracha chicken bites, onion rings, fries, jalapeno poppers and shrimp ceviche.

The Happy Hour specials at Saska’s will surely leave you smiling. You can enjoy any of their draft beers for just $4, while house wines are $5 per glass and signature cocktails are $6 each. They offer discounts on many of their popular dishes as well, including an 8-ounce flat iron steak for just $14, fresh oysters for $1.50 each and many other options, like prime rib sliders, steak fries, and a baked artichoke and spinach cassoulet.

The Happy Hour specials at Red Marlin Restaurant rotate regularly, so be sure to ask your server what food and drink specials are available. Common options include discounted Canvas wines by the glass and local craft beers, as well as a $10 Southern Lemonade. For food specials, you can expect to find discounted meals in the $10-$17 range, with dishes like Baja ceviche, swordfish street tacos and jumbo lump blue crab cake.
