San Diego has made a name for itself as a craft brew destination. In addition to having a thriving local craft beer scene with well over a hundred breweries, San Diego is home to quite a few excellent beer festivals and special events. One of these is coming up on the first Saturday in May.

The Rhythm and Brews Music and Craft Beer Festival will take over the Historic Vista Village from noon until 4 p.m. that Saturday. The event is sponsored by the San Diego Brewer’s Guild and will highlight the varied and exciting local craft beer culture. Whether you’re a local at your favorite brewery or plan to visit San Diego and want to take in as much of the brew scene as possible, this event is bound to be a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Local Music and Local Beer Steal the Show Here

There will be beers at this festival from more than 50 of the most popular and beloved breweries in San Diego. While stragglers may still sign up to participate, the current list of breweries is pretty impressive. It includes Belching Beaver, Absolution, Alesmith, 32 North, Benchmark, Burning Beard, Green Flash, Duck Foot, Intergalactic, Karl Strauss, Mike Hess, Pariah, Stone and Wild Barrel Brewing. Ticket holders can enjoy unlimited samples of select beers from these incredible brewing companies and many more.

There are two performances scheduled during the festival. L.A. Edwards will start things off at 1 p.m. with a funk and folk set, followed by Trouble in the Wind from 2:45 until the end of the festival. These laid-back tunes will be the perfect accompaniment to the samples of beer.

Reasonable Ticket Prices for an Incredible Event

If you’re interested in going, you can still buy tickets online. General admission tickets will cost $45 per person, while VIP tickets with that extra hour of access will cost $65. The organizers want people attending to be responsible. You should never drink and drive. Instead of offering tickets at discount prices for designated drivers, they are offering a 20 percent discount on two Lyft rides to and from the event.

General admission tickets will get you three hours of beer samples and a fun commemorative cup. Those with VIP tickets can come an hour earlier, at noon instead of 1 p.m., and they also get to enjoy access to the Rare Beer Garden and three different complimentary food pairings. Whichever you decide to purchase, you’ll certainly enjoy the more than 100 options for beer samples, fun atmosphere and live music at this festival.
