For those who love superheroes, comic books, horror, anime, science fiction and fantasy, San Diego Comic-Con is the Holy Grail of events. Every year, thousands of people get together to show off their dorky side for a few days. Comic-Con San Diego is one of the oldest and most popular conventions in the United States. In fact, it’s already sold out for this year, although there may be some badge giveaways between now and the time of the convention.
Whether you dream of dressing up like a medical technician from Star Trek or just have to see the newest trailers as soon as they drop, Comic-Con has you covered. There will be cosplayers there from every walk of life. Everyone from children to professionals will have their homemade costumes on display, and some people will remain in character all day. It can be a magical experience for children, as well as for adults.
Pop Culture Panels, Seminars and Workshops, as Well as Viewings
Even if you don’t intend to dress up as your favorite character, there will be plenty to do and see during Comic-Con San Diego. There are workshops on everything from integrating comic books into school classrooms to popular collectible figures. There will also be screenings of quite a few movies, television shows and anime you can attend.
Do you love card games? There will be events involving Magic the Gathering and Pokémon. You can attend any number of panels where influential artists and creators will speak about their experiences and creations. Plenty of these events will be family-friendly, with a host of new and classic cartoons represented in the mix.
More Than 350 Hours of Special Programs and Unique Shopping
For many people attending Comic-Con, the ability to watch screenings and attend a Masquerade are the biggest draws. There’s also an Independent Film Festival you can enjoy. There will be plenty of exhibitors and stalls where you can buy merchandise, too.
Every year I have a big or flashy costume and Iron Spider was definitely it for 2017. Technically, it was a challenge to make it work but I got it to look good and legit on the show floor and I got it to compact and fit into a suitcase to travel with it to our first ever time at San Diego Comic Con. Best of all it doesn't kill my back lol I plan on bringing it back in 2018 for more conventions, before infinity war comes out and everybody wants to make the costume lol I haven't used the costume nearly enough. I already have a few ideas for what my 'big' costume is going to be in 2018 ? #sandiegocomiccon #sandiegocomiccon2017 #ironspider #avengers #infinitywar #avengersinfinitywar #marvelcomics #marvel #ironman #tonystark #peterparker #spiderman #cosplay #cosplaygirl #homemade
If you want something unique to remember your Comic-Con experience, be sure to check out Artists’ Alley. There will be famous artists signing books and prints. You can also purchase books or limited edition prints. Some artists will do sketches or custom art for you, so bring your creative ideas.
Unfortunately, badges for attendance are already sold out through the Comic-Con website. However, local giveaways, as well as ticket or badge resales, could still make attending this incredible convention a possibility. If you can’t score tickets, there will be plenty of other fun local events around San Diego this July to attend.
