While much of the country (and the world) celebrates LGBTQIA pride during the month of June, San Diego waits until July to highlight the many different genders and sexualities that contribute to life in America’s finest city. This could very well be a case of “save the best for last,” as San Diego Pride is one of the oldest and largest Pride parades and festivals in the country!
The San Diego Pride Parade is the largest single-day civic event in the entire region, and it remains one of the largest and best-attended Pride parades in the country. Each year, more than 200,000 people attend to cheer on and support participants in the parade that travels about 1.5 miles. If you’re planning to bring children, the parade may be the most child-friendly event during Pride. It’s also totally free.
Plenty of Fun and Educational Events
Some people call Pride Festival the biggest party of the entire summer. There’s no doubt that Balboa Park will be flooded with people, booths and opportunities for incredible live music. Dozens of businesses, from food vendors to churches and community organizations, will have booths set up to sell merchandise or connect with the public. There’s no question that Pride is one of the most exciting events in San Diego all summer!
There will also be four stages, each one featuring amazing live music performances. Unlike some local events, Pride attracts national and global talent. You can look forward to watching TLC perform, as well as JoJo, LE1F, Kim Petras, Paris Sukomi Max and Graciela Beltran.
